Got my son a Dell XPS 8700 for Xmas and started setting everything up but I ran into an issue I can't figure out. Mirror windows 7 to tv. He had his computer monitor and his HDTV mirrored on his old computer so I figured this would be a snap on his new one.

Third, I disabled 'Sharp Angle' compensation setting in Artcut. I have now successfully cut 3 designs consecutively without failure. It's a brand new machine, freshly out of box just 2 days ago. Thanks everyone for the hints and comments, they have gave me the hope (hope that I didn't buy a dodgy cutter) and ideas.

If your cutter is an unknown device, you will need to install an FTDI driver. You can download the drivers from the CutterPros support page here. Adobe read write software. There are a couple to choose from depending on your operating system. The drivers are in a compressed folder. Save the file to your downloads or to the desktop.

That file is installing the USB to serial port that is in the PCUT CTO630. Now if you plug the cutting in via usb and turn it on and go in to the device manager you should see a serial port that wasnt there before. Check out this to find out how to find the device mange any more questions? Ask away i have not had any luck setting the CTO630 up via the usb port. In my opinion the serial port is so much easier if you have one on your PC, if not you can get a PCI serial card for about £30 if you cant wait. Redemption.Man •.

If your cutter is not responding to the computer, verify that the carriage is not against one of the red limit switch buttons on the left or right side. The carriage can start about 1″ or so away from the right side wall. If the carriage is touching one of the red buttons it will cause the cutter to not communicate with the computer. If this happens, turn the cutter off, slowly move the carriage to a start position and turn it back on.

After the file is saved, extract the drivers to a regular folder on your desktop. Right click on the unknown device in device manager and select “Properties” Next, click on the “Driver” tab. Could be the font you are cutting has a fault. I use the WinPC Sign software that came with my machine. I was advised against Art-Cut. When the machine goes all the way over to touch the red button.turn off the machine then slide the cut head over manually, then restart. My supplier of the machine also says grounding is important. But it comes with a grounded plug.

Thanks in advance. I have the identical machine and I had this happen to me once, but only with one particular font.Babylon. Could be the font you are cutting has a fault. I use the WinPC Sign software that came with my machine. I was advised against Art-Cut.

At this stage, no buttons work. When the blade holder is pushing the red button, nothing works, as I (attempt to) physically move it towards the centre again, the CT630 resets. I used 'Test' button in Artcut, the plotter draws a circle/square and the the blade goes all the way to the left again, same thing happens.

You will need to press the mode button again to get back to the X,Y position screen so you can put the cutter back online. Step 3 – The first step in connecting your cutter to your computer is to open device manager. Go to the control panel. For Windows XP, Device Manager is a tab in the System program. For Windows Vista, 7, 8, etc. Device Manager is its own program in the Control Panel.

I did few things, so it could be one of the followings: First, the nodes were too close together in my artwork, so I spaced them out. Second, In case of the static issue, I placed a piece of wire sitting on top of the vinyl roll to the ground of PC via exposed metal contact on the USB connector. Third, I disabled 'Sharp Angle' compensation setting in Artcut. I have now successfully cut 3 designs consecutively without failure. It's a brand new machine, freshly out of box just 2 days ago. I'm using ArtCut, which came with the CT630, Windows 2000 SP4, USB interface. Here are my symptoms: From the artcut, I click on 'Cut/Plot' button and the CT630 starts to plot few lines. But, about 2 seconds later, the blade holder goes all the way to the left, pushes the red button, and I get a message 'Waiting' displayed on the small LCD screen. Could it be a driver problem?

Can anyone help me? I just tried again without blade this time, it worked. So it could be something to do with a setting? Thanks in advance. I have the identical machine and I had this happen to me once, but only with one particular font.Babylon.

Has your machine been working well prior to this? Have you tried a differnet file to cut, or does it do this all the time? I think if there is an open path in your vector file it would cause the machine to ' loose its mind' so to speak. Hope this helps. It finally worked!

Repost from other thread - since there's other discussions going on: -- I just purchased a PCUT CT630, and having some troubles. I set it up according to the instruction, used the driver provided.

Now that is all setup you will need to make sure the vinyl plotter is setup. Once your vinyl plotter is turned on you will need to press the “on-line” button then the mode button 7 times to get the Baud setting, if you haven’t guessed this needs to be 9600. To change the baud rate is a bit strange to change it to a lower speed press the + and for a faster speed press. After all that is done remember to press the mode button to get back to the screen for setting the X and Y axis, then press the “on-line” button and make sure the screen says on-line. The plotter won’t cut unless the screen says on-line. With all that done you should be ready to use your plotter.

If your corners have little hangnails on them the offset is too high. If your corners are nice and sharp then the setting is correct.0100″ –.0130″ is a good range to work within. So it must be the plotter and not the software. (do you agree the software is flexi pro 10. Thanks for any help you can give me in advance. If the test square isn’t getting printed the correct every time then the fault is with the plotter. It may that the belt that moves the blade left and right is slipping and you may be able to hear it slipping if you listen. Saying that I wouldn’t have the first idea on how to tighten or replace the belt. If the plotter is only 3 months old I would suggest first contacting the seller to see if you can get a replacement if you can’t, you may have to talk to creation support for a replacement under warranty but I have never dealt with them so I don’t know how good they are.

Just wondered if you could help with the above?

You could try running a wire from the frame of the machine to a ground.ie.the screw in the middle of your wall receptacle. Has your machine been working well prior to this? Have you tried a differnet file to cut, or does it do this all the time? I think if there is an open path in your vector file it would cause the machine to ' loose its mind' so to speak. If your cutter has incomplete cutting then rolling back to a prior FTDI driver is a good first step to resolve the issue. If your computer doesn’t install a driver automatically then your cutter will show up as an Unknown Device or possibly some other device.

When you first open Control Panel, if your settings are grouped by Category you will find the Device Manager under the “Hardware and Sound” group at the top under “Devices and Printers”. If your Control Panel is being viewed by Icons then it will be listed alphabetically. Open the device manager. With the device manager open, you will see a list of everything that is connected to your computer. Step 4 – With the device manager open and the cutter powered on, plug the cutter into your computer.
